My paintings are responses to situations I find stunning. I love the patterns and complexions of color that permeate the varied elements of the Maine Coast - my home- this vital and ever changing place. They feed the language of painting and become metaphor. Nature calls our attention like a magnet, and I hope for my paintings to have a similar pull, not as descriptions, but as visceral human experience. Blue Hill Peninsula, Penobscot Bay, Merchants Row, Deer Isle and Stonington, Acadia, Schoodic, Frenchman's Bay, and, the fall of 2008, the White Mountains, provide inspiration.
